    Aug. 1 election in Shelby County: Where to vote, polling place hours, who's on the ballot

    Election day for the county general election, school board elections and the state and federal primary is Thursday. If you didn't vote early ― early voting wrapped up July 27 ― here's what you need to know to vote.

    What time do polls open?

    Polls open Thursday at 7 a.m. across the county and close at 7 p.m. Anyone in line at their correct polling place by the time polls close will be allowed to cast their ballot.

    Where is my voting location in Memphis, Tennessee?

    For those who are voting on election day, you must vote at your assigned prescient. To find your assigned prescient, you can visit the Election Commission website or type in your address on the Tennessee Secretary of State website .

    What should I bring to the polls?

    In order to vote in-person in Tennessee, you must have a photo ID. The Shelby County Election Commission says that the following IDs may be used, even if expired.

    • Tennessee driver's license with photo
    • United States Passport
    • Photo ID issued by the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security
    • Photo ID issued by the federal or Tennessee state government
    • United States Military photo ID
    • Tennessee handgun carry permit with your photo

    Who will be on the ballot?

    The only county-wide race in 2024 is the election for the next General Sessions Court Clerk . The election for the other state and federal primary candidates and school board candidates will vary based on where you live.
