Olympics fans struggled to get their hands on food and beverages on Tuesday as temperatures soared to a sweltering 35C (95F) in Paris. After unexpected downpours disrupted the opening ceremony, a heatwave swept across the city, leaving fans battling the intense heat . However, event organizers have come under fire for " treating fans like dirt " due to long queues at venues.

At least two people needed medical attention after falling ill at Roland Garros , where temperatures rocketed. Many fans had tickets to watch Sir Andy Murray in doubles action, as well as Spanish star Rafa Nadal teaming up with fellow countryman and Wimbledon champion, Carlos Alcaraz.

Long queues could be seen at refreshment kiosks and water fountains, with some spectators waiting more than 30 minutes to refill bottles . Courts were doused with water between games, while players were given a 10-minute break before the third set of singles matches to shower and change, reports the Mirror US .

Announcements at the venue famous for hosting the French Open urged spectators to "take action before starting to feel the effects of the heat". However, National Weather Service , Meteo-France, predicted storms, light rain and then more storms. One disgruntled fan fumed on X: "Dreadful at Roland Garros. Massive queues for food and ran out of food by 1 pm. Plus no alcohol. Treating spectators like dirt."
