ROANOKE, Va. ( WFXR ) — Daily shower and storm chances will remain in the forecast through the weekend. Expect hot and humid conditions across Southwest and Central Virginia for several days.
Patchy fog may impact the Wednesday morning commute. Otherwise, a mix of sun and clouds is slated for the day. Morning temperatures will start in the 60s and lower 70s before warming into the hot upper 80s and 90s by the afternoon. Due to the humid air, heat index values in the triple digits are possible east of the Blue Ridge.
Isolated showers and storms will have the chance to develop along and west of the Blue Ridge during the afternoon and evening. A few storms may pack a punch. Gusty winds and locally heavy rainfall may occur.
Thursday will be similar to Wednesday. It will be hot and humid with highs in the upper 80s and lower/middle 90s. A few hit-or-miss storms are possible during the afternoon and evening. Stronger storms may produce gusty winds, hail, and downpours.
Scattered showers and storms are anticipated Friday afternoon through Saturday. The heat will continue for both days with afternoon highs in the middle/upper 80s and lower/middle 90s.
Rain chances will decrease for Sunday and Monday, although a few isolated showers and storms cannot be ruled out.
