It's normal to want to switch up the look of your home every so often, but it can feel like a big commitment to make some permanent changes. Whether you live in a house, or you're renting an apartment, you probably wish you could switch up your wall colors without the process of painting (especially since most landlords don't allow tenants to paint the walls and if they do they are required to paint them back the original color at move-out).
Well, this creative woman decided to try a viral trick on her rented closet doors and this is how it turned out. We are in awe!
TikTok creator and well-known DIYer Tina Le Mac ( @tinalemac ) had seen a video online of another user applying fabric to their walls instead of wallpaper. Tina knew immediately that this project was up her alley and she decided to give it a try and let her followers know if this was a viable option or not. Turns out, it's an incredible alternative!
Not only is this simple to apply, but whenever move-out time comes around you should be able to easily peel off the fabric, revealing a perfectly untouched wall underneath. Yep, we're getting our security deposit back!

One DIYer even suggested: "You can also do this with windows. And you can put lace on windows with this hack too!"

What You Need To Turn Fabric Into Wallpaper
Here's everything that Tina needed to get the job done.
- fabric of your choice
- paint roller
- paint roller tray
- liquid starch
- X-ACTO knife
- squeegee or other flat tool
While this project would most easily work on a flat wall, Tina decided to revamp the closet doors in her bedroom. This made the process a little more intricate as she had different levels of surfaces to work with.

How To Do It
First, roll your liquid starch onto one of doors with your paint roller, making sure to cover every inch.
Next, and quickly, grab one of her fabric sheets and start to stick it to the door, hanging it up like you would a curtain. This part is definitely the hardest as you have to use a flat object to get rid of any bubbles or lines in the fabric as it starts to dry.
Grab your X-ACTO knife or other sharp cutting object to remove any excess fabric on the sides or over details like door knobs or electrical outlets.
Once the fabric is completely dried onto the door, add another coat of liquid starch on top to seal it in.
This is such a simple process and the final result looks incredible! You can now put up and take down wallpaper without worrying about damaging the wall underneath.
