Northwestern Mutual of Eastern Pennsylvania held its 4th annual Lemon Challenge to support families affected by childhood cancer.

The all-day event aimed to raise money for Alex’s Lemonade Stand .

The Lemon Challenge is an annual golf outing and cornhole tournament designed to bring supporters from across the country together to accelerate childhood cancer research.

With a goal this year of raising $100,000 to fund 2,000 hours of cancer research, the impact among the community is clear.

“Right now, about 1,000 children are diagnosed with childhood cancer each year, but only 4% of the federal budget goes to funding that fight,” said Stephen Blumenthal, Director of Marketing for Northwestern Mutual. “It’s really left up to people like ourselves and our community to try to fill that gap.”

The Lemon Challenge has raised more than a quarter million dollars for Alex’s Lemonade Stand over the past four years to relieve the financial burden on families affected by a cancer diagnosis.
