Jurgen Klopp breaks silence on future and finally addresses England job speculation

Liverpool supporters will be fascinated to see where Jurgen Klopp’s next job will take him. While he remains unemployed, the 57-year-old will be linked with any major role which comes onto the market.

The Reds made benefit of this themselves in 2015, after all. Klopp had only left Borussia Dortmund at the end of the preceding season when FSG decided to replace Brendan Rodgers in October that year. The German answered its call, and we all know what happened next.

But Klopp remains determined to enjoy a longer break from management this time around. He has also ruled out the possibility of succeeding Gareth Southgate as England boss too.

The former Liverpool manager remains one of the favorites in the betting, alongside the likes of Graham Potter, Lee Carsley, Eddie Howe and Mauricio Pochettino. But the FA is not believed to have Klopp on its shortlist, at least according to Sky Sports .

The outlet has also reported some comments he gave at the recent International Coaches' Congress in Wurzburg. Klopp was asked about what job offers or enquiries his advisor Marc Kosicke has received since he left Liverpool .

"Nothing at all,” he said. “Job-wise, nothing at all. No club, no country. Some people must not have heard that part."

When pressed on potential interest from England, Klopp stood firm. "That would be the biggest loss of face in the history of football if I said, 'I'll make an exception for you,'" he added.

While he dampened any immediate speculation, the former Mainz, Dortmund and Liverpool boss did admit he intends to return to the sport.

"I will work at something," he said. "I'm too young to just play padel and only spend time with my grandchildren. Will it be coaching again? I would actually rule that out at the moment. We'll see how things look in a few months. Right now, nothing is coming through,” Klopp concluded.

Assuming he is true to his word, it seems clubs have accepted that he is looking to take a long break and will not be returning to management any time soon. As soon as a big club hits a sticky patch in 2024/25, the rumor mill is guaranteed to start cranking up with Klopp’s name leading the headlines though.

Liverpool.com says: I t is unsurprising that Klopp is keeping his cards close to his chest. If he were to announce he were ready to take up a new coaching position, his agent’s phone would ring off the hook. He’s also far too shrewd to take on the thankless task of managing England too.
