SPRAGUE, Conn. (WTNH) — State police located the pickup truck that hit a dog Sunday in the Versaille section of Sprague, just hours after asking the public’s help finding it.

Troopers said the truck hit a dog at around 7:15 a.m. on Main Street in Versaille and did not stop. The dog, which state police said jumped a fence from a home on Bay Street, later died at a nearby veterinary facility.

Authorities described the vehicle as a dark gray 2000s model, possibly a Toyota Tundra, with chrome wheels and a galvanized chrome toolbox in the back.

it's always been a law in Connecticut that if you hit a dog, you stop and contact police and you stay there.
