PlayStation Plus members are eagerly awaiting the announcement of the free PS4 and PS5 games for August 2024 . The upcoming batch of PS Plus Essentials is set to be revealed by Sony at 11..30 am ET on July 31, with the games becoming available for download on the morning of August 6.

With the next selection of PS Plus titles launching soon, players have until August 6 to snag the current offerings, which include hits like Borderlands 3, Among Us, and NHL 24. In the absence of leaks, PS Plus subscribers have been speculating about the upcoming line-up in the usual predictions thread on Reddit.

One of the frequently guessed games is Hi-Fi Rush, a rhythm action game from the now-defunct Tango Gameworks. Players, equipped with a guitar, must overthrow an evil tech corporation, keeping their moves in sync with the soundtrack, reports the Express .

The game's blurb states: "Tackle a wide range of corporate drones (like, actual robots with jobs) in satisfying, rhythm-boosted combat," and continues, "Your actions automatically sync up to the music, but get into the groove and Chai can pull off devastating Beat Hits, extra-flashy combos, team-up attacks with their allies, show-stopping special moves and more! ".

"Expand Chai's skills with upgrades and turn every encounter into your own "animated music video" moment as you reach for those covetous S-Rank scores."

The first-person puzzle game, Viewfinder, is also worth mentioning. This game challenges players to manipulate their surroundings using a unique camera that can create new paths and locations.

Launched in 2021, some speculate that Resident Evil Village will finally join the PlayStation Plus lineup in August.

Set in a haunting European village overrun by monsters, the game continues to use a first-person perspective, but players can switch to third-person for a more classic Resident Evil experience.

It's even compatible with the PSVR 2 headset, which is currently on sale at Argos for an impressive £180 off.

Other predictions include Sonic Frontiers, Little Nightmares 2, Hades, High on Life, Deathloop, Tiny Tina's Wonderland, Dead Space, Suicide Squad, and Like a Dragon Ishin.

Some fans are hoping to see Hot Wheels Unleashed 2, along with Dying Light 2, Stray, Dead Island 2, Call of Duty Vanguard, and Forspoken.

While we'll have to wait a bit longer for the August PS Plus games, Sony has already revealed one of the games coming to the service in September.

Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions will be available for PS Plus Essential subscribers on the morning of September 3.

The game offers a single-player campaign, along with co-operative and competitive online multiplayer modes.
