The crash involved a YMCA bus that was taking 12 children, ages six to 10, to the YMCA in Eaton.

According to Preble County Sheriff Mike Simpson, a work van stopped at the stop sign near the intersection but failed to yield for the bus, causing the collision.

Two of the 12 children were taken to an area hospital with suspected minor injuries.

The driver of the van was cited for failure to yield, Simpson confirmed.

News Center 7 received the following response from the YMCA of Greater Dayton:

Today, one of our buses was involved in a traffic accident while transporting a small group of campers from Valley View to the Preble County YMCA Day Camp. The incident occurred when a van pulled out in front of the moving bus. We are relieved to report that, thanks to the quick actions of our bus driver and the swift response of our childcare staff, there were no major injuries sustained and all children are safe. No other YMCA Day Camps were involved.

Our immediate focus remains on the well-being of the children involved, and we are grateful for the professionalism and calm exhibited by our team. The safety of the children in our care is always our highest priority, and we are thankful that everyone involved is safe.

Dale Brunner, President/CEO YMCA of Greater Dayton
