    RI native picks up Emmy nomination for outstanding work on HBO TV series

    SOUTH KINGSTOWN – When Emmy Award nominations were announced two weeks ago, a Rhode Islander was quietly among the nominees for her work on the HBO drama "The Gilded Age."

    Denise Andres, a graduate of Classical High School and the University of Rhode Island, who now has homes in Wakefield, Rhode Island, and Brooklyn, New York, has been nominated for Outstanding Period Costumes For A Series as part of a five-person team sharing the nomination. She is credited as a costume supervisor for the Season 2 episode "You Don’t Even Like Opera."

    Andres is part of a small army of Rhode Islanders who help bring "The Gilded Age" to the screen .

    "The Gilded Age," created by "Downton Abbey" creator Julian Fellowes, was nominated for six Emmys for Season 2, which was filmed, in part, in Newport.

    Besides the costume award, the series is also nominated for Best Drama Series ; Best Actress in a Drama Series , Carrie Coon; Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series , Christine Baranski; Outstanding Production Design for a narrative period or fantasy program (one hour or more), and Outstanding Period Or Fantasy/Sci-Fi Hairstyling .
