CNN Names Jessica Dean Weekend Primetime ‘Newsroom’ Anchor, Promotes Donie O’Sullivan

CNN has tapped Jessica Dean to anchor the primetime weekend edition of CNN Newsroom while she will continue to serve as a correspondent covering politics.

Dean, who joined the network in 2018, previously was a congressional correspondent and a substitute anchor on the network’s dayside coverage. She led the coverage of the assassination attempt on the life of Donald Trump as well as Iran’s attack on Israel.

The network also has promoted Donie O’Sullivan to CNN senior correspondent. For the past decade, he has reported on online misinformation and the spread of conspiracy theories and extremism. O’Sullivan will continue to report on the role of misinformation in the 2024 election, which will include new episodes of MisinfoNation , part of The Whole Story with Anderson Cooper. He joined the network in 2016. Among other assignments, he reported live from the grounds of the Capitol during the attacks on January 6, 2021.
