Muscadine Bloodline Reminds Fans There’s Still “Good In This World” With New Single

Gary and Chuck bringing an extra shot of positivity to your Wednesday morning.
It’s no secret that we’re living in one of the most divisive political and social American landscapes, at least of my lifetime, and with it being an election year, we’ve only seen that negativity amplified. If you live on social media, or frequently watch the news, you’re inundated with it constantly. And for me, who more or less works in media (I’m not a journalist), I see why it’s so prevalent… it gets clicks. It gets attention.
The problem is… it distorts your perception reality. The same way social media distorts your perception of “happiness.”
Of course, that political division reached its peak a few weeks back when an assassination attempt was made on former President Donald Trump while he was speaking in Butler, Pennsylvania. He suffered a graze wound, but few bystanders were shot as well, suffering serious injuries. One man, a retired firefighter named Corey Comperatore, tragically lost his life. And rather than giving us all pause, it’s seemingly only made things worse.
Amid this barrage of constant negativity, violence and divisiveness, it can seem pretty hopeless. You start to lose your faith in humanity. But the boys of Muscadine Bloodline are here to remind us that there is still a lot of good in the world… and that reminder couldn’t have come at a better time.
They took to Instagram to reveal why they choose to release this song right now, as opposed to with the rest of their upcoming album, The Coastal Plain, on August 16th:
“In a world that seems overshadowed by political division and negativity from the media, we have to hang on to all the positivity to be found. Stories of hope and resilience, acts of kindness or even a smile to a stranger can be those shining lights in someone else’s darkness. We all need to remind ourselves there is still some “Good In This World.”
We were gonna wait and let this song just come out with the rest of the record on August 16th. But, it feels timely and maybe someone could use a pick me up or a change of perspective.”
Amen.
Of the new tune, they said:
“It’s a life song performed in a timeless John Prine manner. The scene of the song takes place at a rural service station. It’s funny what you can take from small human interactions with strangers. Whether it’s an old man talking about his deceased wife, or just getting a smile for a girl behind the register by simply saying ‘keep the change,’ as small as they are, they can go a long way and apply to your life.
Even if it feels like we are going to hell in a handbasket, it’s always good to be reminded that there is indeed some good in this world.”
