Paris taste test: These McDonald’s fries don’t look anything like what we eat in the US

PARIS (NEXSTAR) – Paris may be one of the most glamorous cities on Earth, but if you are in need of a late-night meal, you may find yourself gravitating to a favorite from back home: McDonald’s.

That was our situation this week as we wrapped up more than 16 hours of coverage from the Olympic Games. What we found was surprising. We could get some pretty normal-looking fries, which tasted like what we eat here, with a little less salt. But we noticed people eating something that looked a lot more like restaurant-style steak-cut fries. We just had to try them.

As you can see in the video above, we put them to the test against traditional fries and paired this new option with a “creamy deluxe” sauce you can’t find in most countries. They were excellent, and didn’t last long.

According to a McDonald’s fan wiki, these fries frequently appear on menus in France, Russia, Greece and a few other countries. As BuzzFeed reports , Europeans often enjoy a much different menu than Americans, even picking up French favorites like croissants and baguettes under the Golden Arches.
