There’s a new project in the works from Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway, and more opportunities to hear these songs live, too.

The bluegrass phenom announced the Into The Wild EP yesterday, and wasted no time in releasing the project’s title track as a surprise single as well. With descriptive lyricism and vivid imagery, Tuttle’s latest single illustrates her affection for the great outdoors and laments the urbanization that seems to be overtaking the natural world.

Sonically, the new tune illuminates the top-tier talents of the Golden Highway band members as they pick into a full fledged string attack led by Bronwyn Keith-Hynes’ prominent fiddle.

Check it out for yourself here:

“Wind blows in the ponderosa pines

Like a song when I close my eyes

    Memories go drifting by

And I’m gone into the wild

Redwood canopies, shadows dancing ’round the forest floor

A wild seed sowed for the great unknown

Growing in my heart forever more

    How could we ask more?

Tuttle took to her Instagram to provide a bit of extra context behind the project and new single, and also to announce several more dates being added to their fall tour.

“Thrilled to invite you to come ‘Into the Wild’ with us on our new EP out Sept 20th!! This collection of songs features two new originals, some favorite covers and a reimagined version of “‘Stranger Things.’ You can listen to the title track NOW and pre-save the rest at the link in my bio.

But that’s not all… we also have a new fall tour to announce!! Presale will happen tomorrow, July 31st at 10am local with code: 2thewild, and on-sale this Friday, August 2nd at 10am local.”

While I don’t believe the full track list for the EP has been released yet, it’s apparent on Spotify that the project will feature two covers that were released quite a while ago in Jefferson Airplane’s “White Rabbit” and Olivia Rodrigo’s “Good 4 U.”

The first a psychedelic rock standard inspired by Alice’s Adventure in Wonderland and released in 1967, and the second, and angsty modern hit released in 2021 by pop sensation Olivia Rodrigo, the two covers on this project demonstrate Tuttle’s eclectic influences, and along with her band, their impressive ability to tastefully turn anything into a top notch bluegrass song.

Check those out below as well if you haven’t already heard them.

    “White Rabbit”

Molly Tuttle is an incredible songwriter and musician, and this EP is shaping up to be an awesome collection of originals and covers. But as great as these recordings are, Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway’s live show is where the real magic happens.

In addition to Tuttle providing vocals and virtuosic guitar playing as the band’s frontwoman, as well as the aforementioned Keith-Hynes contributing her world class fiddle playing, Golden Highway is rounded out by mandolinist Dominick Leslie, upright bassist Shelby Means, and banjoist Kyle Tuttle, who ironically is of no relation to Molly.

Together, these five musicians make up one of the most talented bands in all of country music, and put on a show that proves it. Check out where you can catch a Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway show here:
