Superman Wraps Filming, James Gunn Gives Statement on Finished DCU Movie Production

Superman has wrapped production.

The upcoming DCU Superman movie, which is written and directed by James Gunn , is scheduled to hit United States theaters in July 2025. The movie began production on February 29, 2024, and has since been filming in locations such as Norway, Atlanta, Cleveland, and more.

On Threads , Gunn announced that they had now officially finished production on Superman.

“And that’s a wrap,” Gunn wrote. “God bless our cast and crew whose commitment, creativity, and hard work have brought this project to life. I set out to make a movie about a good man in a world that isn’t always so much. And the goodness and kindness and love I’ve encountered on a daily basis on the set has inspired me and thrust me forward when I felt too spent to move on my own. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. It has been an honor. The destination has been Superman, but the journey has been toil and the laughter and the emotions and ideas and magic we’ve shared together on set – and for that I am forever grateful.”

Who stars in Gunn’s DCU Superman movie?

Superman will star David Corenswet as the titular Man of Steel. The cast of the movie also includes Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Isabela Merced as Hakgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Terence Rosemore as Otis, Wendell Pierce as Perry White, Pruitt Taylor Vince as Jonathan Kent, Neva Howell as Martha Kent, Beck Bennett as Steve Lombard, Mikaela Hoover as Cat Grant, and Christopher McDonald as Ron Troupe.

Superman will be released in United States theaters on July 11, 2025, from Warner Bros. Pictures.
