“Coolest Thing Made in New York” contest to find best manufactured item

WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWTI) – New York State residents are trying to decide what’s the best thing made in the Empire State.

The “Coolest Thing Made in New York” contest is in now its second phase. The poll was started by the Business Council of New York State Inc. and is  a statewide initiative aimed at spotlighting the innovation, creativity, and manufacturing excellence of businesses across the state.

It features products made in New York State, ranging from cutting-edge technology and advanced machinery to crafts and consumer goods.

Voting has started on the second part, which will narrow down the list to 16 entries. The polling for these items is going through August 4.

Representing Northern New York is Massena-based Alcoa. Their entry is molten aluminum.

Those last 16 remaining items will be voted on in an NCAA Tournament style format. Each voting phase for the brackets will last a week with the last two having an extended period from September 2 to 19, when the winner will be announced at the annual meeting.
