Deadpool & Wolverine: [Spoiler] ‘Didn’t Think’ Marvel/Disney Wanted His Cameo

The latest MCU hit, Deadpool & Wolverine , has been awing fans due to its engaging humor and cleverly-planned cameos. Many unexpected actors and characters showed up in the movie, including Henry Cavill as a Wolverine variant and Chris Evans as Johnny Storm. One of the cameos that caught everyone’s attention was that of Blade, portrayed by Wesley Snipes. However, his appearance in the Ryan Reynolds-led film was initially an unlikely event, as disclosed by the veteran actor.

Wesley Snipes wasn’t sure Blade’s cameo was possible in Deadpool & Wolverine

In a recent interview, Wesley Snipes revealed that he was skeptical about his chances of reprising his role as Blade on the big screen.

While talking to Entertainment Weekly , Snipes stated that everything “started with a text from Ryan Reynolds.” He also explained that he was doubtful of the plan coming to fruition but was prepared to accept the challenge in case it happened.

Giving further insight into his Blade cameo, Wesley Snipes continued, “I did not think it was possible. I didn’t think he would be able to pull it off. I didn’t think that Marvel was into it. Disney was into it. And also because they had Mahershala, you know, cast for the next upcoming version of it. So, it didn’t make sense to me.”

Despite his initial hesitation, Wesley Snipes ended up making a brief but impactful cameo as Blade in Deadpool & Wolverine. He first donned the mantle of the vampire hunter in 1998 in Stephen Norrington’s Blade and went on to reprise the role in two sequels. Snipes received much acclaim for his portrayal of the Marvel anti-hero, with the trilogy acquiring a dedicated fanbase over the years.

Marvel confirmed a Blade reboot in 2019, with Mahershala Ali replacing Wesley Snipes as the title character. The movie has faced multiple hurdles during production, resulting in a delay in its release. It is currently scheduled to come out on November 7, 2025.
