The exclusivity window is closing on the mysterious Jack White album that arrived to his Third Man Records stores in Nashville, Detroit, and London earlier this month. After giving the record away for free to whomever could get their hands on the limited vinyl copies, the musician is sharing the wealth. The previously untitled album — officially called No Name — will receive a wide release on Aug. 2.

No Name is a one-man job. White has spent the past year recording, producing, and mixing the album himself at his Third Man Studio. Even the unconventional release of the record seems to have been cooked up by the musician on his own. On July 19, when the album arrived to select record stores, Rolling Stone learned that his publicist was “as surprised as everyone else” about the new record, which includes 13 new songs.

Not only was this album an apparent self-driven project, it also marks some of White’s best work in years. In a review of the release — published shortly after it surfaced with no title or track list — Rolling Stone wrote: “No Name fuses the two sides of his persona — the rocking and the weird — about as fluidly as he ever has … The album has some silly moments too, but in the context of its more or less unrelenting guitar grind, they come off as reminders of how well White’s screwball impulses work when they’re tempered and good natured.”

No Name is White’s sixth studio album. His most recent releases, Fear of the Dawn and Entering Heaven Alive , were both released within months of each other in 2022.

    No Name Track List:
    1. “Old Scratch Blues”
    2, “Bless Yourself”
    3. “That’s How I’m Feeling”
    4. “It’s Rough on Rats (If You’re Asking)”
    5. “Archbishop Harold Holmes”
    6. “Bombing Out”
    7. “What’s the Rumpus?”
    8. “Tonight (Was a Long Time Ago)”
    9. “Underground”
    10. “Number One With a Bullet”
    11. “Morning at Midnight”
    12. “Missionary”
    13. “Terminal Archenemy Endling”
