During the second-ever Grasshopper Direct 2024, Suda51 showcased the upcoming Shadows of the Damned remake but also expressed a desire to bring back killer7 and a sequel.

Renowned Japanese game director Goichi “Suda51” Suda has unleashed his second annual Grasshopper Direct on the masses. For the 2024 edition, Suda and Shinji Mikami showcased a behind-the-curtain look at the upcoming Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered . While Hella Remastered release was the main focus of the presentation, both directors were asked where they would like to see their future headed after the release. The Grasshopper Direct 2024 hosted by Grasshopper Manufacture can be seen below.

At the 37:54 mark on the Grasshopper Direct, the presenter asks, “Mikami & Suda, do you guys have comments regarding your future projects?” To which Mikami replies “I’ve realized that I want to stay as hands-on as possible when it comes to game creation, and I’d love to see Suda make a sequel to killer7 .” killer7 is an action-adventure game, sporting cel-shaded 3D graphics and found in other Suda51 works like No More Heroes .

killer7 was released for the Nintendo GameCube in 2005 and brought back to life on Steam’s platform in 2018 , and Suda51 replied with a notion of how he would like to make a “complete edition” first after insistence from Mikami that it would only make sense if Suda51 wants to do it. He said “First a complete edition and then killer11 ” already naming a sequel. This name structure would only make too much sense with how the director has marketed his games in the past (especially where No More Heroes is concerned).

It’s worth noting Suda has claimed if the remaster does well enough, a sequel could potentially happen for Shadow of the Damned . Suda51 and Grasshopper Manufacture’s next project, Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered , will launch on October 31 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
