When you mess with a baby bear, you’ll be met with his mother’s claws. Or, in Keke Palmer’s case, some heated words on Instagram. The Nope actress revealed she is “so torn up” about a playground incident involving her son Leodis “Leo,” 17 months, and her strong message is making parents laugh — and bringing in a lot of support, too.

Palmer shared a video on Instagram Tuesday, recalling an upsetting moment that recently happened at the playground. “So, I took my son to the playground so we could have some fun, and he gets pushed !” she explains, emphasizing the last word. Ooh, Mama Keke is mad!

“He met this little friend, and everything seemed to be going well, and then all of a sudden, the little boy sticks his little arms out and pushes my son to the ground,” the Bosses star continues, giving the camera a look. (You know the one.)

Turning to humor to help diffuse her emotions, Palmer shared what she wished happened. (Don’t worry, no toddlers were actually harmed.) “They were prying my hands off the little boy as they started to scream, ‘He’s just two! He’s just two!’ I didn’t care.”

She joked that she encouraged Leo, whispering, “Get him son!” and then she herself “took the mom.”

“None of that happened,” she reassures us. “But that is what I wished transpired.” Totally get it! Someone hurting our babies makes our eyes go red — even if that someone is another baby themselves. In all seriousness, Palmer kept her cool. “I picked up my son, and I hugged him, and I told him everything was going to be OK. And I did everything I could not to send all of my energy over to the other direction,” she says.

Now she’s asking for help from moms. “How do we deal with this?” she asks, adding that she knows this is a “little thing,” but this is “just an example of having a child in the world when the world is not always kind.”

In the caption, she added, “I have no idea what’s in my hair ignore it because, mom life. Also IM SO TORN UP ABOUT THIS GUYS!!!! I’m a new mommy, how do we deal??”

The comments section was gold, with a perfect mix of sympathy and humor. “You don’t have to necessarily put your hands on the kid, but if you just should happen to swing your diaper bag on your shoulder and it just happens to bust the other little kid in the head, it could be seen as a ‘mistake,’” one person joked.

“I push kids back 😂 no really i definitely be like aht aht keep your hands to yourself,” another said. Someone else suggested, “I say ‘Hey Buddy, we have to have nice hands’ okay REALLY LOUD AND STERN SO EVERYONE can hear something just went down and I’m trying to be nice about it .”

One mom shared the secret: have more kids! “This is my toughest battle as a mama! but now that I have a few, I can send them into battle. lol” she wrote. “Some kids were bullying Jori on the playground … I couldn’t find their parent and I couldn’t grab them off him myself cause this LA 😬 so I said Judah … go get your brother’s back! he said no prob, boss 🫡🤗”

Palmer responded, “YESSSSS THIS IS WHY I WANT SO MANY CAUSE YOU CANT GET MY WHOLE TEAM hahaha such a blessing mom :)”

Finally, the best advice: “You extend grace in hopes that when your son is in the wrong grace is extended towards him!”

Despite getting pushed on the playground, Leo seems to be having a wonderful summer. The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy star has shared several pictures of her son lately on his personal Instagram account. “I’ve been having the best summer, can you tell!? 🎈” she captioned one post, showing Leo smiling in his stroller while holding a toy car.

In another , Leo looked adorable in blue-and-white denim overalls (with no shirt underneath!) and brown Converse. He smiles as he walks around outside, and it was captioned, “Farmer boy in my farmer fit! That love island dude has nothing on me! 🤣👨‍🌾” So cute!

“I just love my son so much. 🥹🫶🏾♥️🙌🏾👶🏾🎶♓️,” Palmer wrote on Instagram earlier this month. “I don’t think our children will ever know the things we’ve overcome within ourselves just to rise to the occasion of being their parent. And they don’t have to, it’s not a burden to bear! One day he will be a grown man and have his own life and his own family and it will be a joy to see him carry on his teachings and share that freedom with the next generation..”

“But in order for that to happen, as a parent we are often faced with challenges on our road to create space for our children to blossom,” she continued. “And I am constantly challenging myself to sacrifice fear, self loathing and any insecurity that would stop me from being everything he deserves. I will sacrifice the comfort in discomfort, just to be who he needs me to be!”

And if that means holding back from hurting other moms on the playground, well, she’ll do that, too. Leo may never know, but we see how hard Palmer works for her son — because we do it for our kids, too.

These celebrity parents have shared hilarious (and relatable) stories about their kids and curse words .
