Dolly Parton’s Dollywood Park Affected By Extreme Flooding, Cars Fully Submerged

A flash flood ensued after the recent storm in Tennessee, leaving one person injured at Dolly Parton’s Dollywood amusement park. Park visitors were also left stranded and had to wade through the water as it rose from their ankles to their waist.

The park’s amenities were also affected by the weather, as shops and rides were soon ravaged by the water. The National Weather Service previously issued a flash flood warning directed at Sevier County in Tennessee, where Dolly’s Park is situated.

Dollywood undergoes extreme flooding

With videos of the incident circulating on social media, Dollywood parkgoers showed their annoyance by sharing their experience. “I still love Dollywood… but we barely escaped today. Hope everyone gets out alright,” someone wrote, while another recalled how a tree fell and blocked the road after bringing down the fence to get their vehicle out.

People are starting to lose faith in the park, noting that flooding is the second major issue to hit the amusement grounds. “…I don’t think I have ever seen it this bad before,” an X user replied, showing photos of cars being submerged in water and flowing out of manholes.

Dolly established Dollywood in 1986 as a recreation of a small theme park owned by the Robbins brothers in 1961. She stated her goal for acquiring the park to be God-centered, noting that she wants people to experience her big dreams through their rides and unforgettable quality time. The theme park boasts over 2.5 million guests each year and is undeniably a go-to choice for most parents.

She also launched HeartSong Lodge & Resort last year, which is aimed at making guests feel close to nature. The lodge containing over 300 rooms is inspired by Dolly’s 1994 song, “Heartsong,” where she expresses longing for her “smoky mountain home.”
