“You Have To Hold On Tight To Brace Yourself” — Amy Earnhardt Is NOT A Fan Of Dale Jr.’s Driving Style

Apparently, Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s not his wife’s favorite driver in terms of normal street driving.

Obviously, he is when he’s on the track trying to win a race, but yesterday, Amy Earnhardt, was a guest on his Dale Jr. Download podcast, where they played a version of The Newlywed Game, answering funny questions about each other and giving fans a little more insight into their relationship.

And one of the best moments came when they had to guess what each other’s weirdest fears were, and Dale answered for Amy before she could say what it was, telling the producers that Amy does not like his driving… at all.

I have to admit, it’s pretty funny that she’s married to a professional race car driver, who won at the highest possible level, and hates riding in the car with him now:

“This also could be pet peeve and fear, but it’s my driving. She doesn’t like my driving.”

Amy added in:

“Neither do our children.”

Hilarious.

Jr. continued, saying:

“I make turns too fast. Well, you said you’re not scared of anything, but when I go around turns…”

Amy finished his sentence, saying it wasn’t just that he goes around turns fast, it’s that they’re going so fast that she sometimes hits her head on the car window:

“When he turns too fast and your head hits the window, that’s not fun. If you have to hold on tight to brace yourself…”

Yeah, I think I’m gonna have to side with Amy here. Sounds like Dale Jr. drives like he’s still on the track, even when he’s riding down I-77 towards Mooresville…

They also got into a discussion about how Dale Jr. is freaked out by jewelry, so much so that he won’t wear a metal wedding band, and the one he got for his wedding day was actually made of walnut. Now, most days, he wears a silicone band, but he admitted he thought he would follow a “unique set of rules” and not have to wear one because of this fear:

“When me and Amy got married, we had a bit of a loose agreement that I was not gonna wear a ring every day. Yeah, I might wear it some… I was under the assumption that, eh, I’ll get married, we’ll get married, I’m not the ring kind of person so I’m under a unique set of rules.”

Amy recalled it quite differently:

“That’s not true. That’s straight up not true. Just like all things, Dale thinks he can make his own set of rules and see how far he can push it. And that was one of those things.”

Dale and Amy Earnhardt… they’re just like every other couple I know and I could watch them go back and forth all day.

They also commented during this episode that Amy is going to come on the show more regularly, once a month at least, and I think that’s a great idea because she’s really finny and gives some great commentary and insight on their daily life.
