Social Media Blasts Simone Biles' Husband Jonathan Owens For 'Odd' Gold Medal Celebration

NFL football player Jonathan Owens has supported USA gymnast Simone Biles from the crowd at the Paris Olympics this month. But some social media users argued he went too far in his celebration after Biles won a gold medal.

Biles led Team USA to the gold medal in Tuesday's team final. With the victory, Biles won her eighth medal to become the most decorated American gymnast in history.

To celebrate, Owens, who watched the event in the crowd, posted a picture with his wife and her latest medal on Instagram.

"Witnessing history every time you step on the mat," Owens wrote with heart-eyed and fire emojis. "Congrats baby on becoming the most decorated American gymnast in Olympic history!!!!

"Just wow!!!! 8 of them!!!!!"

Some Instagram users, though, took issue with Owens wearing the goal medal in the photo.

"Why he holding it like he won it," asked Autumn Fall_.

"That's Simone's gold medal you're holding, not yours my guy," wrote Xavier_Penguinsfan with two laughing emojis.

"But why are you wearing it? How odd," wrote Jadeaub.

"You do realize that is not your medal ... right? This is giving military wife vibes," wrote Rachelring3.

However, other fans didn't appear to have an issue with Owens' celebration photo.

"You guys are the sweetest," wrote TNJ1975. "I absolutely love your love. It's the sweetest thing to watch. Give your girl a big hub from all of us here in the US. We're so proud of her."

While Owens wearing Biles' gold medal will appear possessive to some fans, he did sacrifice his career to support her at the Olympics. Owens, who signed with the Chicago Bears this offseason, is missing training camp to be in Paris to watch Biles.

Also, keep in mind, Biles has seven other medals. It's only fair she shares the wealth a little bit .
