In a new wrinkle on the human smuggling front, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) apprehended eight migrants who entered the state illegally after the private plane they were aboard landed in Port Lavaca.

DPS pilots say they noticed suspicious activity with the plane around Kingsville - leading officers to intercept as it landed.

The migrants on the plane were from Mexico, Guatemala, and El Salvador. A DPS investigation into the flight is ongoing. This case is a result of Texas' ongoing "Operation Lone Star" border security operation which has resulted in over 9,500 smuggling arrests & over 21,500 smuggling charges.

Migrants are not only being illegally smuggled into Texas by plane but by truck. The U.S. Border Patrol has apprehended 20 tractor-trailers smuggling 326 migrants so far this fiscal year in just the El Paso Sector alone.

Meanwhile, Texas reports it has removed around 120,000 migrants from the state so far through "Operation Lone Star" and has relocated:

    Over 12,500 to Washington, DC
Over 45,900 to New York City
    Over 36,900 to Chicago
    Over 3,400 to Philadelphia
    Over 19,200 to Denver
    Over 1,500 to Los Angeles
