President Joe Biden took a stab at former President Barack Obama on the issue of gay marriage during a gaggle with reporters on Tuesday, as the rift between the two continues to widen. “Well, I’m really proud of my position,” Biden told reporters when asked about his “legacy for LGBTQ Americans.” “I was the first guy to come out for gay marriage. Remember that little problem with the Obama administration?” Biden was referring to an episode in 2012 where he sidestepped Obama on the issue during the heat of the presidential election, announcing that he was “absolutely comfortable” with gay marriage on NBC’s Meet the Press despite Obama’s obfuscation on the question , according to The Telegraph . A few days later, Obama acquiesced and affirmed Biden’s position. Biden later apologized to Obama for getting out ahead of him, according to CNN. The rehashing comes after Obama applied pressure alongside Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and other party bigwigs to push Biden off the ticket.
