Now at the grand age of 73, Anne once held the role of President of the International Equestrian Federation, a post she held from between 1987 and 1993.
Accompanied by her spouse Sir Timothy Laurence, Anne sparked quite the stir when she donned a casual bucket hat to combat the sweltering Paris heat during the men's group stage hockey match versus the Dutch team on Tuesday.
An awestruck fan took to social media platform X, expressing: "Princess Anne in a bucket hat watching hockey. Things you didn't think you'd see.... Just needs a pint of snakey-b really."
Renowned for her penchant for bucket hats, Anne made headlines last year too, having worn a chic black fluffy version to the Cheltenham Festival.
Reacting to a photo of Anne, who was also seen sporting a bucket hat in Paris earlier today, one admirer posted: "How cool does Princess Anne look? ? ? She rocks that hat! ! ! x."
Another chimed in: "Perfect! ! All of it! ! Love the shirt tunic!! Always love Super Princess Royal Anne in a blazer but for this event this looks awesome on her!"
A third admitted they would probably "walk past" if they'd spotted Anne in such laid-back attire.
They remarked: "I'm in shock I think. Have I ever seen Anne dressed so casually? I think I would have walked right past her."
Another added: "Cool cat". During their outing on Tuesday, the pair were decked out in Team GB uniforms, with Sir Tim donning a blue zip-up track top and Anne opting for a navy version.
They also showed their support at the Men's Rugby Sevens last weekend, with Anne being a lifelong fan and patron of the Scottish Rugby Union .
During her trip to Paris, the Princess Royal made an appearance to congratulate Team GB swimmer Adam Peaty in 100m men's breaststroke final last weekend. Fans were thrilled by her presence and her support for the 29 year old silver medallist.
One admirer noted on social media: "Princess Anne came out for Adam Peaty! Silver Mens 100m Breaststroke."
Anne also presented Italy's Nicolo Martinenghi with the gold medal, with one fan commenting: "That was great to see Princess Anne giving the gold medal to Italy's Nicolo Martinenghi.
