LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — We are experiencing another hot and humid day in Mid-Michigan, with forecasted high temperatures near 88 degrees and heat indices in the low to mid-90s.

While most of the day will feature dry and partly cloudy conditions, there is a slight chance for an isolated shower or thunderstorms in the area. We have a Marginal, Level 1 of 5 risk for severe weather south of I-96. If we see any pop-up showers and thunderstorms, the primary concern will be the potential for isolated strong wind gusts.

Dry and partly cloudy conditions will settle into the area tonight, with overnight lows falling into the upper 60s. This dry weather is perfectly timed for viewing the Delta Aquarids Meteor Shower, which peaks tonight, with the chance of seeing up to 20 meteors per hour. There is also the chance of viewing the Northern Lights. However, it looks like the best chance for viewing will be in Northern Lower Michigan.

Our next system moves in Thursday afternoon, bringing scattered showers and thunderstorms to Mid-Michigan.

The most favorable environment for severe weather will be to our south in portions of Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio. However, there is the chance for a few strong to severe storms across Mid-Michigan, with a Level 1 of 5 Marginal Risk in place. Similar to today, the biggest threat will be isolated strong wind gusts, and hail in any of the stronger storms that develop tomorrow afternoon and evening. We will hold on to the chance for those scattered showers and storms throughout the day on Friday, with dry weather returning for the weekend.
