Blue Heeler 'Mistakes' Poodle for a Sheep in the Funniest Way

When you adopt a second dog, it's common to get one that's similar to the dog you already have. You know that breed, you know their temperament, and you know you can handle it.

Just because it's the norm doesn't mean it's the law, though. You can get any dog you want, as long as you're prepared for that kind of trouble. For one dog mom on Sunday, July 28th, her pairing came with an unexpected issue. At least it's funny:

Arya the Cattle Dog is very sweet. Her intentions were good!

Arya is a Blue Heeler, but she doesn't do any farm work. She's an inside dog and she has a little human sibling, so her full-time job is more about being her little sister's own personal Bluey than it is herding farm animals.

That's why, when she came across her Poodle bestie a few days ago, she mistook her immediately for a sheep. Arguably, it's not Arya's fault; a grown-out Poodle looks like a sheep. Of course she wanted to herd her! Luckily, no one was hurt, and it was just a funny misunderstanding. After her Poodle bestie went home, she returned to her full-time job of looking like Bluey and attempting to herd her little sibling. She's the best girl!

Are Blue Heelers Good Family Dogs?

Blue Heelers are beautiful dogs. They're big, but not too big, and they're loyal as can be. As a bonus, Bluey is based on a Blue Heeler, so many families think that they fit perfectly in their lives. Generally, Blue Heelers truly are good dogs!

Blue Heelers can be good family dogs as long as they're trained and exercised properly every day. As herding dogs, they have a tendency to chase and nip at moving things, which could include your kids. They're better with older kids who are less grabby, too.

The most important way to make sure that your Blue Heeler is "good" is to make sure they have proper stimulation. Ideally, you have a house with a yard, space for them to run, and time to play with them daily. Beyond that, they also need mental stimulation when they're inside; puzzle toys and lick mats are great tools to help you out!

One of Arya's main points on her TikTok is that she absolutely adores her younger sibling. As conflicted as she might feel about her Poodle Pal, she'd never hurt her sibling. That's the most important thing about a family dog, and Arya nailed it!
