COCKE COUNTY, Tenn. (WATE) — Two teenagers are dead following a crash on Thinwood Road in Cocke County according to the sheriff’s office.

Tuesday night, officers with the Cocke County Sheriff’s Office responded to a traffic accident on Thinwood Drive off West Highway 25/70. A 15-year-old and 19-year-old were killed as a result of the crash, Sheriff CJ Ball shared on Wednesday.

While negotiating a curve, the 2019 Kia Forte left the road to the left and struck a parked semi trailer, the report stated. The two teens were the only individuals involved in the crash.

The Cocke County School System also shared a statement following the crash.

Due to the tragic circumstance in the last 24 hours, the Cocke County Schools system is providing professional emotional support for students and staff.

Counselors will be available in the CCHS library this afternoon, Wednesday July 31st at 1:00 pm
