( NewsNation ) — Maya Rudolph will reprise her Emmy-winning role as Vice President Kamala Harris on “Saturday Night Live” when the show returns for its 50th season, according to a Deadline report .

The NBC late-night comedy show returns in late September and will be airing during the final stretch of the 2024 presidential race . Fans have been asking Rudolph to clear her schedule to return as Harris since President Joe Biden announced that he was stepping out of the race .

Deadline reported that pre-production on the third season of Rudolph’s Apple TV comedy series “Loot” has been paused for scheduling reasons. The show, which Rudolph headlines and executive produces, was reportedly supposed to begin filming Aug. 26.

“Loot” is produced by NBC sibling Universal Television, which also produces “Saturday Night Live.”

Rudolph first played Harris in 2019 during a Democratic National Convention town hall sketch. She played this first iteration of Harris alongside Woody Harrelson’s Biden.

Following this role, Rudolph won an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series. Harris also posted that she intended to keep Rudolph in work “for the next 8 years.”

After this, Rudolph returned to “Saturday Night Live” to reprise the role in 2020, from the start of the season until December 2020. This time, she played the role alongside Jim Carrey as Biden.

Since the 2020 election, Rudolph has reprised the role a few times, including when she hosted the show in March 2021, earning herself another Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series.
