If you have a new puppy and big dogs that reside in your home then you will probably be familiar with the following scenario.

An owner of a new little Dachshund puppy had to come up with a way to get her tiny puppy from eating the bog dog's food and her clever solution is too funny and adorable.

This cute video was uploaded to the TikTok account @Naynayblevins and people are appreciating this smart little hack. One person commented, "That’s so sweet that you recognized it and came up with a solution." Another added, "Yep, the little ones are always the worst lol! I have to restrain the 10 pound dachshund so he doesn’t eat the 150 pound St Bernard’s food."  Someone else can feel this pain and they said, "I have a 10 week old Doberman and he loves stealing dad and sister’s food so I sit with them while they eat to correct his behavior. I don’t want the older dogs bitting him."

The video creator wanted to feed all her dogs at the same time and we think this laundry basket idea is pretty brilliant. Until the puppy learns how to jump out, that is. Dachshunds are prone to overeating and obesity so it's a good idea to train them not to steal other food while they are young!

If you don't want to try the laundry basket hack like the pet parent above, there are some other ways you can stop one pet from stealing the other pet's food.

You can try feeding your pets at different times, and watch them while they eat. You can feed them in separate rooms with the doors shut.

My Maine Coon kitten has to eat a lot of wet food, which our dog of course always wants to sample, so we feed the cat on an elevated surface in a different room so the dog doesn't steal his food.

WagWalking has some other suggestions for this unwanted habit of one dog stealing another dog's food and suggests "Your dogs do not have to eat at the same time, or even the same time of day. You can train your dogs to each take their turn, eating at separate times, either one after another or with a time interval. Have a designated area for eating, setup with bowls for food and water. Your dogs should always have water available. You may need a way of keeping the other dog separated, such as using gates a door or a pen."

Hopefully one of these suggestions will work for your little kibble thief!
