    Katie Ledecky, again, has dominated the women's 1500 meter freestyle.

    In her fourth Olympic games, Ledecky won her eighth career gold medal – and 12th overall medal – Wednesday at the Paris La Défense Arena , in the women's 1500m freestyle final. This time, she set an Olympic record, surpassing her own mark set in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

    This is an event that has become a hallmark of Ledecky's dominance. Ledecky, 27, is both the world record holder and the Olympic record holder in the event. She's undefeated in the 1500 in her professional career, having won five world titles and also holds the 20 fastest times in the event's history.

    Did Katie Ledecky win 1500m freestyle final?

    Yes, by a significant margin. Known as her signature event, Ledecky beat the next closest competitor by 10.33 seconds and set a new Olympic record.

    In fact, in the women's 1500m freestyle, Ledecky is both the current Olympic record holder (15:30.02; set Wednesday), as well as the world record holder ( 15:20.48 ; set May 16, 2018 at the TYR Pro Swim Series).
