A mother took to TikTok after she was horrified to find her four-year-old daughter’s Burger King meal splattered with “human blood,” which the young girl mistook for ketchup.

Tiffany Floyd took her daughter to a Burger King location in Gettzville, NY, a place she’s eaten at dozens of times. After receiving their order, as they were driving away from the restaurant and her daughter took the first bites of her hamburger, Floyd heard her daughter say, "Mom, I don't want ketchup."

"Instantly I grabbed the bag because I thought maybe they messed up her order,” Floyd later told People . “I looked at it, felt something wet, and thought it was ketchup and you could tell it was human blood.”

Floyd immediately called the Burger King location and asked to speak with a manager, but was even more horrified by their lackadaisical response.

"I spoke to the manager, and he paused and said, 'Yes. I had a worker here cut their hand right before your food was made and bagged. The worker knew he cut himself but did not think he was bleeding that bad.'

"He was so nonchalant at this point and I was livid," Floyd continued. The manager offered her a refund, but the young mother had other plans. "I said, 'No, thank you,' I hung up the phone and called my local health department."

Burger King did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Men’s Journal . In a statement to People , the chain said it was "deeply upset and concerned to learn of this incident. We have been in contact with the guest and are working with her to resolve this incident,” it added.

The franchise told People that the Gettzville location was closed following the incident to allow for a complete sanitization of the facility. During this time, the staff was also re-trained.

"We closed the restaurant over the weekend to retrain all the team members and hired an external company to complete a deep cleaning," the statement explained. "We expect the restaurant to re-open Monday, July 29, and are fully paying team members for any lost shifts during this temporary shutdown."

But for Floyd, that provides little comfort. The mother has been “distraught” since the incident, fearful for her child’s health. "She now needs to get bloodwork done every month" for diseases such as HIV and Hepatitis, the chagrined parent revealed.

Floyd says her daughter has refused to eat and is “emotionally not okay” following the traumatizing episode. "I try to give her food, she thinks there's blood in it," she said.

Floyd hopes that the visibility of her family’s unfortunate experience will prevent such a thing from happening to other fast-food customers. "Every time you get food through a drive-thru, you open the bag up and start eating without even looking," she lamented. "I just want other people to check.”
