Harris Faulkner Insists ‘Much of That Audience Was Enjoying’ Trump’s Wild Appearance at Black Journalism Convention

Former President Donald Trump turned in a madcap performance at the National Association of Black Journalists on Wednesday that, according to Fox News’ Harris Faulkner , many in the audience enjoyed.
Faulkner co-moderated the event, which was delayed by what Trump said were audio issues. However, the New York Times reported that the former president objected to any forthcoming fact-checking. During the appearance, Trump falsely claimed that Vice President Kamala Harris previously identified old as Indian. (The vice president is half Indian and half Black.)
“I didn’t know she was Black until a number of years ago when she happened to turn Black,” he said . “And now she wants to be known as Black. So, I don’t know, is she Indian or is she Black?… And then all of a sudden, she made a turn and she became a Black person.”
Elsewhere, Trump mocked Harris for failing the California bar exam on her first attempt and suggested she “take a cognitive test.”
Also, Faulkner herself was heard reacting incredulously when Trump claimed one of the moderators treated him “rudely.”
Appearing on Fox News after the event concluded, Faulkner noted reports that some journalists opposed Trump’s appearance. Nevertheless, she said, many in the audience seemed to appreciate of his presence.
“So, what I loved about what you couldn’t see today, was how much of that audience was enjoying the moment of hearing from a candidate that they might not always agree with,” she said. “And that is the whole point. That is the growth of journalism, to be able to listen and question those things that you may not know about it because you don’t often talk to that person or those people. That was the goal here. So, for all of that pushback, young journalists that I’m talking to after the event are saying, ‘Well, we’re glad he’s here.'”
