While the House of the Dragon Season 2 finale doesn’t air until August 4, 2024, a number of clips were illegally uploaded to a TikTok account on July 30, 2024, and were then shared to other social media sites.
Per The Hollywood Reporter , HBO has now issued a statement regarding the leak. The season finale of House of the Dragon Season 1 also leaked early online, while Game of Thrones has had a long history of episodes leaking ahead of time.
What did HBO say about the House of the Dragon Season 2 finale leak?
“We are aware that clips from the House of the Dragon season finale have surfaced across social media platforms,” the statement reads. “The clips were posted after an unintentional release from an international third-party distributor. HBO is aggressively monitoring and removing clips from the internet, and fans can watch the episode in its entirety this Sunday night on HBO and Max.”
Set centuries before the events of Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon was created by George R. R. Martin and Ryan Condal.
It stars Emma D’Arcy as Rhaenyra Targaryen, Matt Smith as Daemon Targaryen, Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower, Rhys Ifans as Otto Hightower, Steve Toussaint as Corlys Velaryon, Fabien Frankel as Criston Cole, Matthew Needham as Larys Strong, Harry Collet as Jace Velaryon, Tom Glynn-Carney as Aegon II Targaryen, Ewan Mitchell as Aemond Targaryen, and Phoebe Campbell as Rhaena Targaryen.
