Meghan Markle & Prince Harry’s Former Employee Revealed an Issue the Couple Isn’t Totally Aligned On

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are always showing a united front in public, from their loving handholding at events to their protective mama and papa bear stance when it comes to their children. However, there is one crucial part of the Duke of Sussex’s life that his wife doesn’t necessarily agree with — and it might surprise some of the couple’s critics.

Even though Meghan is with Harry “100 percent,” she has a wish for one aspect of his former royal life. The Duchess of Sussex reportedly wants him to “let go of these lawsuits, be happy, and live in the moment,” a former Archewell Foundation employee told People. “She wants him to be free of all of this, but she also knows that because of everything he’s been through and his love for [her and their children], he can’t. She wants him to live in a world where he is not burdened by this.

TOPSHOT – Britain’s Prince Harry (R), Duke of Sussex, and Britain’s Meghan (L), Duchess of Sussex, take part in activities as they arrive at the Lightway Academy in Abuja on May 10, 2024 as they visit Nigeria as part of celebrations of Invictus Games anniversary.

Harry has been open about the trauma he experienced as a young boy growing up in the royal family. The loss of his mother, Princess Diana, at a tender age, and the continued invasion of his privacy by the British tabloids as a young man had a huge effect on his mental health. “It’s so easy as a kid to think or convince yourself—I would know, I was 12—that you need to be sad for as long as possible to prove to them that they’re missed,” he said in a June interview with Scotty’s Little Soldiers, a U.K.-based charity that assists children who have lost their parents in the military. “But then there’s this realization that they must want me to be happy.”

Those childhood struggles, and his adulthood wish to see justice for his late mother, have likely fueled his legal quest — even if it isn’t the healthiest path for Harry to take. His courtroom battles have pushed him further and further away from his family as King Charles III has reportedly turned his back on improving the Sussexes’ security situation in the U.K. “I think Harry needs to ask himself why Charles hasn’t overruled RAVEC (Royal and VIP Executive Committee), which, for all the insistence that he couldn’t, he could, being the king and all,” a palace source told The Daily Beast.

Harry doesn’t want to alienate his wife during his legal battles because he is “determined to ensure that history doesn’t repeat itself” for Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3. The Duke of Sussex may not be able to repair his relationship with his brother, Prince William, but it seems that he would do anything to reconnect with Charles. A pal of Harry’s told People that it would be “swords down” if they could resolve the security issue, adding that nothing “would give [Harry] more happiness than being able to rekindle his bond with his father.”
