The Bonneville County Fair starts Thursday at the Bonneville County Fairgrounds. The free weeklong fair will feature rabbits, cows, goats, chickens, turkeys, horses, pigs, sheep, donkeys, dogs, cats and bouncy houses, according to the fair’s website.

Paige Wray is a 4-H educator with the University of Idaho appointed to Bonneville County. She said the fair is the culmination of projects 4-H students have been working on all year.

Projects are quite diverse, Wray said. Some kids can work with large livestock, while others may only be able to work with dogs or cats in city limits. There will also be family consumer science projects on display.

“All of it can be really interesting to see — to watch these kids perform and be excited about the things that they’ve been working on all year,” Wray said.

The schedule of animal shows can be found in the fair book, available on the fair website .

Between animal shows, fair-goers can peruse animal barns and vendors. Barns open at 6 a.m. The exhibit hall opens at 9 a.m. Barns and exhibits close at 9 p.m.

The fair also has special events including a photography show, 5K run and children’s obstacle course, baking competitions, largest zucchini contest, quilt show, gardening show, flower bouquet contest, and a canning contest.

Information on entering shows and competitions can be found on the fair website.
