‘CRUSHED IT!’ Trump Congratulates Self After Telling Black Journalists Kamala Harris Only Recently ‘Became a Black Person’

Former President Donald Trump took a victory lap on Wednesday after his controversial appearance at the National Association of Black Journalists convention.

Speaking about Vice President Kamala Harris , who is the presumptive Democratic nominee, Trump falsely claimed she previously touted her Indian heritage, but not her Blackness.

“I didn’t know she was Black until a number of years ago when she happened to turn Black,” he said . “And now she wants to be known as Black. So, I don’t know, is she Indian or is she Black?”

Trump later reiterated, “And then all of a sudden, she made a turn and she became a Black person.”

The former president also mocked Harris for needing two attempts to pass the California Bar Exam. And in true Trump fashion, he attacked a moderator and accused her of acting “rudely.”

After the event, Republican strategist Shermichael Singleton expressed shock.

“To question the vice president’s ethnicity — I can’t even really say what I want to say about this, but I just think this was a calculated mistake and I would not have advised that,” he said .

The former president took a different view of his performance.

“The questions were Rude and Nasty, often in the form of a statement, but we CRUSHED IT!” he wrote on his Truth Social platform.

Trump is set to take on Harris in November after President Joe Biden ended his reelection bid. Harris is slated to become the first Black woman nominated for president by a major party, which could prove problematic for Republicans. Last week, Speaker Mike Johnson convened a meeting of House Republicans to instruct them to avoid discussions of Harris’s race when speaking publicly about her.

“This election will be about policies and not personalities,” he told reporters afterward. “This is not personal with regard to Kamala Harris and her ethnicity or her gender have nothing to do with this whatsoever.”

Johnson convened the meeting after one of his members called the vice president “ a DEI hire .”
