Kevin Durant led the United States Men's Basketball Team to a 103-86 win against South Sudan in Group C play, advancing to the quarterfinals at the 2024 Paris Olympics on Wednesday (July 31).

Durant, 35, the all-time leading scorer for USA Basketball in Olympic play, recorded 14 points, which included going 8 of 9 from the free throw line, as well as three assists, two rebounds and three steals off the bench. Bam Adebayo , who also came off the bench, led all scorers with 18 points on 8 of 10 shooting, while also recording seven rebounds.

LeBron James , a two-time gold medalist (2008 Beijing, 2012 London) and one-time bronze medalist (2004 Athens), finished Wednesday's game with 12 points, five assists and six rebounds. The Americans were coming off a 110-84 win in their opening Group C game against Serbia on Sunday (July 28).

Durant could become the first basketball player in history to win four gold medals should the heavily-favored USA team win out in Paris. The three-time gold medalist (2012 London, 2016 Rio de Janeiro, 2020 Tokyo) was officially ruled as active about an hour before Sunday's game after missing all five of Team USA's pre-Olympic exhibition games due to a calf strain.
