    NM Environment Department promises crackdown on drinking water violations

    NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – State environmental officials are telling more than 100 drinking water providers to clean up their systems. A Larry Barker investigation on Tuesday night revealed systems throughout New Mexico have unsafe drinking water with some containing uranium or arsenic.

    Man charged for fatal dog attack in Tucumcari now faces child abuse charges

    The New Mexico Environmental Department sent letters to 138 water systems saying they need to submit a plan to resolve their violations. Those that don’t within 15 days could be fined $1,000 a day or face other sanctions.
