LONDON Livia Firth‘s consultancy company Eco-Age is closing after 17 years in business.

In a somber statement on Instagram, the Italian activist wrote “tragically the business was targeted by criminals, and although we tried — we really tried — we have been unable to recover financially from the impact. Due to an ongoing police investigation, we are unable to comment further on the specifics of the case. But we look forward to justice in due course and thank the police for their work.”

Firth thanked her Eco-Age team and family for their hard work and dedication to the company. She didn’t specify details of the incident, but said, “As you can imagine, to have so much snatched away in such shocking circumstances creates an emotional vortex. But I also know we cannot really take the end of Eco-Age as a defeat.”

Since its beginning in 2009, the eco-consultancy has advised clients on industry developments, changes to the policy landscape and practical guidance on avoiding greenwashing.

Over the years the business has expanded to London and Milan offices while extending its advocacy to the fashion, luxury and textile industries, NGOs, consumers and more.

Eco-Age’s clients have included Golden Goose, Ugg, Vanish, Messa, Harrods and the Natural Diamond Council.

The company is perhaps best known for its Green Carpet Fashion Awards , which have featured appearances by Zendaya, Stella McCartney and Cate Blanchett. It also held Renaissance Awards for young leaders.

In the last year, the business has been making a few changes.

In August 2023, George Harding-Rolls, formerly of the Changing Markets Foundation, took up the role of policy director.

Firth named Harriet Vocking as the business’ new chief executive officer in January. She had served in various roles at the company, including as chief strategy officer and chief brand officer.
