Some dogs are natural caregivers who take pride in protecting their pack. Tristan the Golden Retriever has taken to a small kitten he recently found, and he's doing the best job welcoming the baby into the family.

On July 30, 2024, Aly with the Dogs ( @alywiththedogs ) shared the sweetest TikTok video showing Tristan and his new baby. They were made to be together! Watch their unique bond below!

"My Golden Retriever was selected by the cat distribution system," the caption says as it shows the smallest black kitten with Tristan happily watching on.

"This is my dog's kitten," the video says. "He found him a week ago. Tristan loves his kitten baby. He brings toys and blankets for him and complains when he's napping."

Aly goes on to explain how much care the kitten needs, including plenty of naps, daily brush baths, and regular feedings. The dogs get to visit with the kitten after this and they look forward to it. However, the baby likes curious, gentle Tristan the most and tries to be as close to him as possible.

"He has a whole Golden family now," the video continues, showing four Goldens watching Mom care for the kitten. Among the 12,000 views, many of the Golden crew's fans are thrilled to see this pair together.

"That kitten is gonna grow up thinking he’s a golden and it’s gonna be so good," one person commented. "Oh my heart! Welcome to the first chapter of your new love story!!! Be blessed!!" another said. "Aww Tristan. Who's the bestest boy? I'm happy you & your family got adopted by that sweet little ink blot," another added.

Tristan is so loving, that baby is in good paws!

    Caring for a Kitten

Tiny kittens that can't be with their mother (for whatever reason) require a lot of work to ensure they grow up healthy. Guilford-Jamestown Veterinary Clinic advises if you're caring for a newborn kitten (0-4 weeks), take them to a vet to determine a bottle-feeding schedule with directions on what formula to use.

From 5-11 weeks, they'll start to wean off a bottle and eating small amounts of soft kitten food while their teeth grow in. At this age, they're also beginning to explore the world and play with everything around the,, so be sure to supervise at all times. By 3-6 months, they're pretty adorable and playful, getting into everything! They're also more independent and can eat, drink, and use the litter by themselves, making them perfect for adoption .

The kitten may not have had the best start to life, but Tristan is the best foster brother and he'll take good care. That's his baby now!
