The View co-host Whoopi Goldberg repeated a Democratic talking point that Vice President Kamala Harris is "not the ' border czar '" while reading off a notecard during the ABC show Wednesday.

"Let’s also, let’s get some factual information, right? Kamala Harris was never the 'border czar.' Never," Goldberg said during a show panel discussion about dueling 2024 campaign ads from Harris and former President Donald Trump about the border crisis.

She continued to read from a notecard in her explanation.

"Her job was to deal and find out the root causes of migration from Central America. That was what Biden asked her to do. To lead diplomatic efforts to reduce poverty, violence, corruption in the Northern Triangle: Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador," Goldberg read.

"Now, if y’all ain’t sure about this, ask Joe Biden. He gave her the job. She made sure that she went to all these countries to see what was going on," she added. "That was the job she was asked to do, and that’s what she did."

"So, if you’re going to go after her, at least try to be factual. I know you don’t like to do — they don’t like facts. They don’t like facts. I get it. I get annoyed," Goldberg said.

Co-host Joy Behar said that "people need to be reminded" that Trump "killed the border bill."

The legislation that Behar referred to was a $118 billion bipartisan bill that many conservatives in Congress rejected as an "amnesty bill." House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA) said the bill that the former president opposed would have accepted "5,000 illegal immigrants a day and gives automatic work permits to asylum recipients — a magnet for more illegal immigration."

Harris had been given the informal title of "border czar" in 2021 when President Joe Biden tasked her with handling the "root causes" of mass migration coming from Central and South America.

Following Biden's withdrawal from the 2024 election and his endorsement of Harris as the Democratic candidate in the presidential race, talk i ng points about the immigration record of the vice president began circulating among Democratic lawmakers. The White House denied knowledge of the talking points.
