Billionaire Elon Musk accepted a bizarre fight challenge from Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro on Wednesday.

During a national television appearance, Maduro challenged Musk to a fight after the Tesla executive has been alleging the Venezuelan election results were fraudulent and social media users on his platform X, formerly known as Twitter, have been widely sharing numerous videos from inside Venezuela of protests in his country.

“Maduro, leave! Venezuelans chose to end the communist dictatorship of Nicolas Maduro. The data announce a crushing victory of the opposition, and the world is waiting for you to recognize the defeat after years of socialism, misery, decadence and death,” Musk said in a post on X.

In a long, rambling speech earlier this week, Maduro labeled Musk an "arch enemy" of Venezuela and a "representation of fascism and the extreme right." The Venezuelan leader also claimed Musk would invade his country with "his rockets and armies."

Musk had laughed off Maduro's claims by posting snarky comments in Spanish such as "the donkey knows more than Maduro."

He added, "Sorry for comparing the poor donkey with Maduro. It is an insult to the animal world."

Venezuelan leader challenged the tech mogul to a fight in his national television remarks.

"Do you want to fight? Let's do it. Elon Musk, I'm ready. I'm not afraid of you, Elon Musk. Let's fight, wherever you want," Maduro declared.

On Wednesday afternoon, Musk responded by simply writing in two words, "I accept."

Fans of Musk shared that their "money was on Elon."

"2024 is turning out to be one of the craziest years in history," one social media user responded on X.

"Maduro will just rig the fight too," another person quipped .

"If I win, he resigns as dictator of Venezuela. If he wins, I give him a free ride to Mars," Musk said to tech entrepreneur Mario Nawfal on X.

Musk had previously accepted a challenge to a cage fight with Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg but despite the war of words between billionaires, the fight never came to fruition.

Last week when Musk visited Capitol Hill as a guest of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, a reporter refueled fight talk with Zuckerberg by asking the tech executive about his fight.

"I’ll fight Zuckerberg any place, any time, any rules,” Musk responded with an amused tone of voice.

Zuckerberg reacted to the renewed fight speculation on his social media platform Threads, "Are we really doing this again?"

In response to talk on X about the Maduro fight, Musk joked about both the fellow tech executive and the Venezuelan leader.

"Maduro is a big guy himself and probably knows how to fight, so this would be a real fight," the SpaceX CEO said , adding, "Zuck is a little fella, so that would be a short fight lol."

Musk told another X user on Wednesday that Maduro "will chicken out."
