YORK COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) – The York County Food Bank in the City of York has to move out of its building.

“We did conduct an inspection last week ourselves, York County Food Bank and Central Pennsylvania Food Bank, which revealed some issues that we needed to resolve,” said York County Food Bank president and CEO Jennifer Brillhart.

Brillhart couldn’t share what issues were found.

Three organizations that distribute food operate out of the building on West Princess Street in York, serving about 800 families a week.

“There will be no disruption in service. The York County Food Bank, the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank and Harvest of Blessing, we’re all working together to make sure that no one goes hungry,” said Brillhart.

While Brillhart says they can’t be in the building starting next week, they will be in the parking lot.

“We are changing shifting operations from a client choice food pantry to a mobile distribution. So, will be bringing our food from our warehouse and bringing it directly to the Princess Street location and distributing food to the community members,” said Brillhart.

This all happening while the location is steadily seeing an increase.

“Especially there at Princess Street, there has been an increase in the demand. So, we are just looking towards that and trying to make sure that we’re able to serve and meet that need in the best way possible,” said Brillhart.

Brillhart says to check their website often for updates.

Beginning August 5 drive-thru distributions will be Monday from 1p.m. to 3 p.m. and Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Walk-ups are welcomed in the lower parking lot.
