The Hamptons Film Festival plans to open with the Martha Stewart documentary, Martha.

Netflix is set to release the movie more formally later on this year, but for now, festival goers will be the first to see it unfold. This move comes with controversy considering claims that RJ Cutler's film was filled with drama behind-the-scenes surfaced.

Nonetheless, the show will go on and Hamptons Film executive director Anne Chaisson is confident in their choice for the show's opening. "It feels only fitting that we open this year’s event with R.J. Cutler’s portrait of Martha Stewart. We are delighted to welcome Martha — a truly trailblazing cultural figure and an East End resident of more than three decades — back to the Hamptons community with open arms and give her space to graciously share her inspiring story with us all," she told THR .

Martha herself will be giving a candid look at her life as documentary makers secured an interview with the cooking legend. She'll also be attending the festival alongside Cutler.

The festival is set to include a slew of other noteworthy films like a documentary of Kenneth Cole called A Man with Sole and Daytime Revolution, which follows a specific week in the ives of John Lennon and Yoko Ono. Daniel Robins' Bad Shabbos will also receive a special spotlight during the event.

Hamptons Film artistic director David Nugent said: "We are incredibly grateful to the teams behind Daytime Revolution and A Man With Sole: The Impact of Kenneth Cole for entrusting our festival to launch their projects for the first time. Both of these films are uniquely compelling in the ways they reintroduce audiences to familiar subjects, while showcasing new sides to these characters and adding to their already vibrant legacies.”

The festival will run Oct. 4-14 with tickets going on sale Sept. 4 for members. Presale begins Sept. 21 with a general sale coming on Sept 23. It will include in-person screenings and additional events throughout the fest. Fans will be flocking to the Hamptons with pop ups all across the town offering a complete experience.
