Bridgewater, NJ - Somerset County is gearing up for the annual 4-H Fair, promising a warm summer day filled with the familiar aroma of cotton candy and tasty fair food. The fair, scheduled for Aug. 7, 8, and 9, will feature free entertainment and family fun for everyone.
According to a press release, attendees can participate in games and activities and win prizes while learning about the county's many free programs and services. The County Government Tent will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., offering special programs and activities for fair visitors.
Somerset County Commissioner Director Shanel Robinson emphasized the fair's significance as a longstanding tradition for generations of families, with some traveling from as far as Pennsylvania to participate. Robinson expressed excitement about connecting with community members in a fun environment and encouraged everyone to visit the County Government Tent for special programs.
Special programs hosted in the County Government Tent include performances by the Fully Monty Uke Band, informational sessions on recycling featuring Matt Puskas of Middlebush Dairy Farm, and an interactive storytelling experience called "Rhythm and Rhyme Storytime" for kids.
In addition, fair visitors can enter a prize drawing at the Public Information Office table to win various prizes, including a golf umbrella, roses, tickets to the Raritan Valley Community College theater, or a Patriots baseball game at TD Bank Ballpark.
This year, the fair is introducing a new initiative called Curbing Hunger. Visitors can donate non-perishable food at the entrance of the County Government Tent. The donated items will be distributed to local food banks to address the challenges many residents face in accessing healthy, nutritional food.
The 4-H Fair has become an annual cornerstone of Somerset County, attracting a diverse and ever-growing attendance. The fair serves as a platform for 4-H youth to showcase their leadership, community, teamwork, and 4-H spirit.
Additionally, Somerset County Government has been an active participant in the 4-H Fair since 1963, using the event to engage with the public and provide information about the array of programs and services the county offers.
Fair visitors can visit Somerset County's official website for a complete schedule of programs and activities in the County Government Tent.
