Few things are more impressive than winning a gold medal at the Olympics. Olympians are some of the best athletes in the world and have spent most of their lives training and preparing to play professionally.

Winning multiple gold medals as an Olympic athlete is an incredible accomplishment. Out of all the gold medalists, Michael Phelps has the most with 23 in swimming and 28 medals altogether.

If it wasn’t impressive enough for an Olympian to win a gold medal in their sport, seven Olympic athletes have won gold medals in two different sports.

While the athletes listed here aren’t the only ones to compete or win medals in multiple sports, they are the only ones to win the gold in two Olympic sports. There have also been four Olympic athletes who won medals in three different sports, six female Olympic athletes who won medals in two different sports, and over 80 Olympic athletes who have won medals in more than one sport.

To create this list of the Olympic athletes who won gold medals in two sports at different Olympic events, 24/7 Tempo consulted several sources including Topend Sports, CNN, and Britannica. (After this article, check out what happens to Olympic villages after the Games .)
