TYLER, Texas ( KETK ) — Robert F. Kennedy Jr. plans to be on the Texas ballot come November after reportedly submitting double the signature amount needed to be a third-party candidate.

During an update on Wednesday, Kennedy’s team said they are confident his name will appear on the ballot after the campaign submitted 245,572 signatures.

“We have over 80,000 extra signatures in Texas validated by the Secretary of State’s office,” Paul Rossi, Senior Ballot Access Counsel for the Kennedy Campaign said. ”It’s unlikely that the Democratic challenge is going to succeed.”

A lawyer representing the Texas Democratic Party claimed 69% of Kennedy’s signatures are not eligible. If true, Kennedy would fall short of the minimum by around 37,000 signatures.

“It could be someone is not registered to vote or they’re a felon and they’re not allowed to vote legally or they don’t live where they say they live,” said Texas House District 6 candidate Cody Grace.

However, the Kennedy campaign has reportedly been served a complaint by the State of Texas.
