Team USA improved to a perfect 2-0 in the Paris Olympics with their win over South Sudan on Wednesday. Going with a major starting lineup change, USA Basketball head coach Steve Kerr moved both Jayson Tatum and Anthony Davis into the starting lineup, sending Jrue Holiday and Joel Embiid to the bench.

Davis received the promotion after Team USA outscored Serbia by 28 points in his minutes on Sunday, which was a game-high. Playing 19 minutes in the win over South Sudan, Davis finished with eight points, seven rebounds, three assists, and two blocks.

Also having an injury scare, Davis was stepped on by South Sudan forward Wenyen Gabriel, which had him on the floor in some pain.

Speaking with reporters after the game, Davis was asked about this injury scare. According to Ben Golliver of The Washington Post, he is 100 percent fine. Davis specifically mentioned Gabriel, making it clear he has no issues with his former Los Angeles Lakers teammate.

"Wenyen being Wenyen," Davis said. "He's my guy. I was falling and he came down too and just kind of stepped on my foot."

Davis and Gabriel were teammates with the Lakers during the 2022 and 2023 NBA seasons, and both players played their collegiate basketball at Kentucky. Revealing his true feelings for his former teammate, Davis made it clear there are no issues between him and Gabriel after this injury scare.

With this loss, South Sudan dropped to 1-1 at the Paris Olympics, while Team USA stayed perfect.
